The popular song
Sant Pere Més Alt - Palau de la Música Catalana
Sculptor: Miquel Blay, signed
Architect: Lluís Domènech i Montaner
Materials: Stone
Inauguration: September 8, 1909
Enthusiasm for the Palau de la Música lifting the Catalan Choral Society spurred outstanding collaborations like Joaquin Amat and Cárcer, Marquess of Castellbell, who decided to cover the sculptural group representing the popular song in the corner of the street of San Pedro highest and Amadeu Vives. It cost 11,000 pesetas, 5,000 of which were for the author of the work, Olot Miquel Blay, and 6,000 for the company Bechini, which put the marble and manpower to carry out the project first. The popular song was completed in March 1909, but was not installed in place until 8 September that year. Below the sculpture, an inscription recalls the generosity of the Marquis.
