La Nit (The Night)
Passeig Joaquim Renart (Parc de la Ciutadella)
Sculptor: Vincente Navarro, signed
Materials: Stone from Montjuïc
At the bottom of the ride dedicated to Joaquim Renart stood Night, a sculpture of Vicente Navarro who had also been expelled from the Plaza Catalunya, at the time of its development at the end of the 1920s, for their nakedness after a campaign moralist. The walk was transformed between 1962 and 1964, by placing a carpet of grass and remove a giant bird cage. It was then thought of putting this statue, "sleeping" in the municipal warehouse, as the culmination of rehabilitation. Renart had died in 1961 and was an important cultural animator, cartoonist and besides Catalan Choral Society president. He left some important dietary to know the life of Barcelona between 1918 and 1961.
